DSC Members made a short return to the water on Wednesday evening, 24th June, after a notable absence of almost 5 months, due to the current Covid – 19 Pandemic. Beautiful champagne sailing conditions prevailed throughout the evening, as we put all the hard work over the previous month or two to the test! 10 DSC members took to the relatively peaceful waters of Donahghadee sound in moderate 10-15 knots of wind and slack water, albeit the tide was out.
Thankfully it appears all the evenings in front of the computer at online meetings and preparing / updating risk assessments and procedures has paid off.
The current restrictions allow for 10 members to be on the water at any time, social distancing, and complying with the restrictions around same households on support craft, and dinghies alike.
Although our sailing is currently restricted to recreational sailing for members with their own boats, we hope to relax these restrictions as the NI Executive continue to modify the regulations, perhaps getting back to racing later in the season. The clubhouse and rest of our facilities remain closed.
