The first opportunity of the 2023 season for our RYA Youth L4 & Start Racing full training courses. Open to DSC members and or any young people aged 8 – 18 years of age.

Hopefully back to some normality this year, however we’ll observe and implement best practise & procedures at DSC during our courses.

This is the part of the RYA Youth National sailing scheme – Having learnt to sail you may wish to start racing and join a club. This course takes you through the fundamentals of getting off the start line and round the course, introducing the basic skills needed to enter your first race or have fun with friends.

If you weren’t able to achieve both RYA Youth Stage 3 & 4 last season then this if possibly for you?

Optimise your time & the young people’s time on the water by combining both the RYA Youth Stage 4 & Start Racing courses into a single week’s, 4 full days course @ DSC! Obviously there may be further practise required to achieve the standard required to be awarded both stages of the qualification!

Please come prepared to go afloat, bring sun cream warm hats and also a towel, and a change of clothes for the way home in the car, a fleece would also be useful as although our classroom is  heated it can be cool when coming off the water, and we often use the outside space.

Changing and shower facilities will be available, but please arrive ready to go afloat in the mornings. Wetsuits will be available, but must be taken home and rinsed / dried at the end of the day and returned at the end of the week for sanitation.

Participants must already have their RYA Youth Stage 1,2, & 3 to join this course!
