RYA Safety Boat Course #1 2023
An opportunity for over 16’s to learn the necessary skills required to operate a powerboat both safely and competently in the role of safety and rescue at primarily sailing events to recover small craft and persons in the water, but could include swimmers, SUP’s/stand up paddle-boards, kayaks, windsurfers etc. This two-day course provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers or canoes, or for racing or training activities. It includes rescue techniques and elements of race management and mark laying. It is strongly recommended that a member of the rescue crew should hold a first aid certificate (or should have experience of first aid).Participants must already have have achieved their RYA L2 Powerboat qualification, and ideally have gained some relevant experience operating a powerboat in a similar role.

The clubhouse and facilities are open for changing, classroom sessions, and lunchbreaks etc.
Please come prepared to go afloat, cater for all eventualities that Northern Ireland can offer in a single day so, please bring sun cream warm hats, warm waterproof clothing, a fleece, suitable footwear that you don’t mind getting wet, and a change of clothing to go home in, just in case. We can provide Buoyancy aids etc. but if you have your own gear please bring it.
This is a 2 consecutive day course, is fairly intensive, and requires no previous experience, or equipment. Please get in touch with any queries.
