An opportunity for over 16’s to learn the basic skills required to operate a  powerboat both safely and competently. A mostly hands on practical course at the helm of one of hour RIBS (Rigid Inflatable Boat) or Rigiflex boats with some land based instruction & theory, under the guidance and instruction of one of our accredited RYA power boat instructors. Successful students will be awarded their L2 Powerboat certificate at the end of the course.  A minimum qualification to be permitted to helm any of the DSC powerboats.

The executive restrictions have now changed to allow us to resume training, albeit with caution and mitigation in place to ensure the safety of our club members and instructors.

Participants will receive a DSC ‘snood’ style face covering, and we’d ask that it is worn when required on and off the water. DSC operate the ‘Hands, Space, and Face’ policy on all our training courses, and we would ask that all participants abide by these guidelines to ensure the safety of everyone.

Once again we’re still  unable to use the clubhouse and facilities for changing etc. So please come prepared to go afloat, bring suncream warm hats and also a towel to sit on on the way home in the car, a fleece would also be useful as our classroom is although covered and heated as required is outside.

Please come prepared to go afloat, cater for all eventualities that Northern Ireland can offer in a single day so, please bring suncream warm hats, warm waterproof clothing, a fleece, suitable footwear that you don’t mind getting wet,  and a change of clothing to go home in, just in case. We can provide Buoyancy aids etc. but if you have your own gear please bring it.
