Saturday June 29th from 10am
Are you looking for a new way to get outdoors and active or find something you can enjoy together with the family? If the answer is yes, Donaghadee Sailing Club is inviting you and your family to come and try sailing for free on Saturday 29 June between 10:30am and 4pm.
Whether you’re completely new to the sport or looking to get back on the water, the RYA Discover Sailing Day is the perfect time to give it a go.
Starting at 10am there will be a whole host of activities taking place including tours around the club, talks and demonstrations about the various types of dinghies sailed, together with an opportunity to enjoy a 30 minute taster sail from the slipway with one of our experienced helms (Please bring a towel and a change of clothes if you hope to sail – you may get wet!).
The activities are absolutely free and the club will be serving food, drinks and snacks. To ensure you make the most of your visit it is essential that you book and booking forms can be found here.
Sailing can be as physical or as relaxing as you want to make it; you can sail with others or on your own, do it competitively or potter about and just enjoy the gentle escape of being outside in the elements.

The Club Scene
With activities including RYA junior and adult courses, Sailing, Sailability, Women on the Water and ‘On Board Fridays‘, alongside an already packed schedule, your local sailing club has plenty on offer for everyone.
DSC have a training programme ready for anyone who wants to learn at the club this summer. You don’t need to have your own dinghy or kayak to sail or paddle and we have a fleet of boats available for our members.
The club offers activities for the whole family with a fantastic social scene and great opportunities to practice your skills with other sailors as crew on keel boats as well as dinghies.
Take a course and learn together…
Another option is to take a sailing course.
It’s a really effective and quick way to pick up some skills and get started and if you already have some experience you might like to develop your skills further or even, try a different activity.
To find out more about the courses available check out our club calendar – we offer a range of courses for both adults and juniors.
So, whether it’s splashing around and having fun at your club, learning new skills or exploring in a dinghy there are plenty of opportunities to spend Summer 2024 on the water.
