The first of the 2024 season RYA Youth L1 & 2 full training courses. Open to DSC junior members and or any young people aged 8 – 17 years of age.

This is the part of the RYA Youth National sailing scheme – An introduction to the parts of the boat and the basic principles of how to get a boat sailing.

Optimise your time & the young people’s time on the water by combining both the RYA Youth Stage 1 & Stage 2 courses into a single week’s, 5  full days course @ DSC! Obviously there may be further practise required to achieve the standard required to be awarded both stages of the qualification!

Please come prepared to go afloat each day to minimise time lost getting changed, bring sun cream warm hats and also a towel, and a change of clothes for the way home in the car, a fleece would also be useful as although our classroom is heated, it can be cool when coming off the water, often we’ll use the outside space.

Changing and shower facilities will be available, but please arrive ready to go afloat in the mornings. Wetsuits will be available, but must be taken home and rinsed / dried at the end of the day and returned at the end of the week for sanitation.
