Improving your seamanship skill, become a better Topper Sailor
This course will help you to improve your sailing skills round the racecourse.
Course contents:
 4 days of fun while learning to sail better and faster.
 Basic rules of the road
 Rigging for prevailing conditions
 Tactics -offense or defence
 Improve tacking techniques
 Lifting or headed on a beat
 Reef afloat
 Prepare for a tow whilst afloat
 Local tides
 Understand the rule of 12 twelfths
 Understand weather forecasts and Beauford scale

Entry Requirements/Further details:
 Open to DSC club members only
 Drop off 9am, pick up 4pm. Bring a packed lunch.
 You can use your own Topper or a club Topper if required.
 Admission to this training week is by invitation only to those children whom the Sailing Committee have deemed ready to progress to more advanced level of sail training. (The course content may be too advanced for your childs current skill level, and we do not want to put anyone off by overwhelming them. So please do not book if your child has not been invited.)
 If you wish for your child to be considered for this course, please encourage them to attend regular club racing on Wednesday, (BNS) Fridays and Sundays as often as possible. Our senior Sail School team will be keeping an eye out throughout the summer for potential candidates. (Repeating Stage 4 would be a great way to fast-track your child’s sailing skills. Also keep an eye on the junior parents WhatsApp for impromptu Wed/Sun coaching sessions.)
 This not an RYA course, so no certification is available. It is intended to provide a weeks’ worth of coaching/time on the water to elevate your child’s sailing/race skills.
