Wayfarer Calls Into Donaghadee On Charity Challenge

This 16 foot wayfarer called into Donaghadee on its way round Britain as part of a £100,000 charity challenge in aid of the Ellen Macarthur Cancer Trust and Sport Relief. Richard spotted it on his way home from work and organised an overnight stay for their dinghy in our dinghy park. Donaghadee was their only stop in NI as they sailed from the Isle of Man to Campbeltown. If anyone would like to make a donation and follow their progress then visit www.loveludo.com. We wish them well and many thanks Richard & co for making them so welcome!

“Come Sail the Course” with Liz

Liz Pollock, Assistant Instructor, has offered to take any of our newer sailors around the Club sailing course on a Wednesday or Sunday in her Mirror Dinghy. It’s a great opportunity to try out the club course; there’s nothing so exhilarating as heading off round the corner to start the race on what is one of the most scenic racing courses anywhere! Many thanks Liz for this; Liz can be contacted on bp7447 or 07968980408.

I know too that many of our 2 handed sailors would be only too pleased too to take newer sailors around the course. Please do contact Fraser Menzies, Sailing Secretary, on fraser.menzies0505@gmail.com or 07747843801.

With some 100 Juniors (members & non-members) having registered to come and have some fun, give sailing a go or to just get out on the water and increase their confidence and skills we need all our capable helms, whether Junior or Adult from Stage 4 upwards, whether instructor trained or non instructor trained to come along and make it happen please? and to have some fun as well! Thank you to all who have come along. Please do contact Nick on gnar.butler@hotmail.co.uk or 07974204436 if you have any queries.
A register of all instructors (and capable helms) who help out on Friday Night will be kept as the basis for the rota of paid instructors to be drawn up for the Summer Training Courses. This is your opportunity to re-fresh and enhance your skills ahead of the summer; please be down by 6.30pm.
Your Club needs you and we value your enthusiasm and commitment for making our Friday Nights the envy of so many other Clubs!

Our sailing season may be short so let’s make the best of it. Remember DSC Regatta on Saturday 18th August.
