Friday BNS again!

Another Friday BNS session successfully under our belt Almost 85 young people on the water last Friday evening again over the 3 sessions – how wonderful is that for a small club like ours – and the changeable weather didn’t beat us, hopefully summer is just round the corner, it got very cold very quickly towards the end of the night.

Well done to all involved, mums and dads included, it takes a fair bit of motivation and organisation to get home from work, prepared and out the door on a Friday evening after a busy week at work!

Many thanks to all our volunteers, both adult and juniors who give up their free time to support the Friday night sessions, it all starts on the Sunday before with arranging fuel for rescue boats, setting up the web page to organise the bookings, etc, and then ordering food for all our hungry sailors and safety crews! There’s people busy most of the afternoon on Friday too – getting broken bits of sailing boats fixed, rigging the dinghy’s and launching safety boats before the participants arrive, not forgetting registration, safety, bar, galley and all the other jobs!  DSC has only one paid employee all year – our cleaner who makes sure the clubhouse is clean and hygienic every week!

So if you’ve some free time during the week and would like to contribute to the success of DSC please let us know – every little bit helps, always looking for an extra pair of hands, no matter what skills you have! We’ve another 6/7 weeks to deliver a potentially life changing experience for our young people, offering skills, and both mental and physical wellbeing over the summer.

Check out our summer sailing courses to further your child’s or your own skills and experience, the club offers youth and adult training in both sail and power boat internationally recognized RYA qualifications.

Mums and Dads – don’t forget there’s a chance to join the kids on the water this week and try out adult social sailing for free on one of our Laser Stratos Keel Boats!

And as always looking for help on the safety boats – no previous experience required!  Just put your name down with the girls at registration (come prepared with shoes that you don’t mind getting wet – or a pair of wellies!

See you next Friday!
