JUNIORS SAILING COURSES 2009

Be one of the first people to learn to sail at DSC's fantastic new clubhouse.

This summer Donaghadee SC will be running more of its extremely popular sailing courses. Instruction is carried out by highly qualified Royal Yachting Association instructors in a safe, fun and positive environment.

We have changed our courses back to a 5 day format in order that we can include a trip (by sail) to Ballyvester beach or the Copelands with a picnic and games. These were always much loved in the past by the juniors and it's great to be able to offer the trips once again.

The courses cost £125 for members and £150 for non-members, this includes instruction, boat hire and use of club sailing gear if necessary. Dates as follows :-

Learn to sail - For beginners (RYA Stage 1 & 2)             July 6th - 10th

                                                                                       July 27th - 31st

August 10th-14th

                                                                                       August 24th-29th

Improvers - (RYA Stages 3 & 4)                                    July 6th-10th

                                                                                       August 17th-21st

Finish RYA Stage 4 (2day course - £50)                         July 2nd & 3rd

RYA Start Racing - Starting to do club races                   July 20th-24th

                                                                                       August 24th-29th

RYA Intermediate Racing                                                August 10th-14th

RYA Advanced Racing                                                   August 17th-21st

ADULT SAILING COURSES 2009

We generally try to run our adult courses in the evenings and at weekends to fit in with our busy working lives.

Sailing Taster - Date by arrangement                                                       £30

2 hour introduction to sailing. Under 16's may attend but they must be accompanied by an adult.

Evening One to One Sessions - Date by arrangement                            £20 per hour

To help you improve your technique, these sessions can be tailored to meet your needs.

RYA Start Sailing Level 1

An introduction to sailing. You will learn the basics of rigging, launching and boat handling.

Four nights in June 15/16th & 22nd/23rd           time 6.30 to 10pm

RYA Basic Skills Level 1 & 2 - £100 for members £120 for non-members

In this course you progress through the introduction level to sailing a boat effectively and should be on your way to being a competent sailor in favourable wind conditions.

25/26 July and 1/2 August          9am to 4pm

or

15/16 and 23/24 August            9am to 4pm

RYA Sailing with Spinnakers -                  £50 members £60 non members

This practical course will teach the essentials of sailing a 2 person boat with a spinnaker. Rigging, setting, gybing and capsize recovery are the main elements.

4/5 July or 1/2 August      9am to 4pm to include a race.

RYA Start Racing - By arrangement £50 members £60 non-members

This course is designed to give the confidence and knowledge to take part in club racing.
