Donaghadee Sailing Club has just undergone a major redevelopment and now boasts an impressive new clubhouse with state of the art facilities. The clubhouse is located on the original site, overlooking the bay in Donaghadee. The clubhouse has fully modernised facilities throughout and has been designed in a fresh and aesthetically pleasing manner. There are extensive sea views from inside and there is a delightful external balcony from where members can watch the sailing in the bay from the comfort of the club. The clubhouse also has an enclosed external courtyard where members can relax and enjoy the summer sun and the Friday Night BBQ.
The Club is an RYA Accredited Training Centre, an RYA Champion Club and an RYA Sailability centre. We offer dinghy sailing courses and powerboating courses for all age groups.Everything from Learn to Sail, Friday Fun Nights for juniors, RYA Youth Courses, Adult National Sailing Scheme Courses along with powerboat L2 and safety boast courses.
Donaghadee Sailing Club is proud of it’s teaching track record and the new clubhouse reflects this. The club has been built with training and teaching in mind, not just for members, but for all who want to give sailing a go. We have impressive teaching rooms which all have disabled facilities.
- Wet and Dry training rooms
- Large changing facilities including Adult, Junior and Disabled areas.
- Multi-function training room with large projection screen
All of these rooms are available for hire by external groups (see hire of facilities for details). In order to assist training we have a number of boats available for use on courses. Currently we have Laser Picos, Toppers, GP14′s, Laser Stratos Keel boats along with 6 safety boats which provide on water safety and can be used as coaching boats for instructors.
Boat Storage & Slipways
We have two large boat parks located right on the waters edge with two large slipways. Both parks are secure and provide storage for members sailing dinghies, trailers and larger boats (see fees list below). Storage is available all year round and a dinghy park key is available from the Sailing Secretary for £5 to members. There are two slipways, which are available for public use. The boat parks and slipways are around 50mtrs from the clubhouse.
